Retail sector gears up for holiday season in Mississauga

A number of retailers in the Mississauga area have begun their recruitment drives in anticipation of the busy festive period.

Most businesses across Canada are expecting the holiday shopping season to be hectic, and are looking to get some extra help in to cope with the increased demand.

December has traditionally been a very good month for firms in Mississauga, and it is expected that its custom will account for 15 per cent of the total year’s sales and 10 per cent of the yearly traffic in the city’s Square One retail complex.

The mall has hired 25 per cent more workers than normal, some of whom will be trained to help shoppers find what they want. They will help customers to locate the stores they are looking for and even give them ideas for gifts. Others will help with parking and also the annual Santa Claus program.

The expansion of the shopping center, which is expected to be completed in November, is set to further increase sales for the shops within its walls. The renovations will cost more than $84 million and will include improvements to the food court, the opening of new stores, and the provision of more parking spaces.

This is also a very busy time for Print companies, which will no doubt be working hard to produce signage and other printed materials for the season. The imagery associated with festive period is likely to be used in POS printing and in the designs of Flyers.
