People from Mississauga and the surrounding communities recently had a chance join thousands of others across the country and take part in the Annual Terry Fox Run.
There were three locations across the city staged events of their own, and everyone was welcome to participate so long as they used a form of transportation that didn't use fossil fuels. Streetsville, Port Credit Harbor and Meadowvale Town Centre each hosted a run. In all of these locations, those who wanted to take part could choose between different route lengths, and those who wished to ride a bike or needed to use a wheelchair were welcomed to join in. A banner printing firm can produce Banners that can be used to make the paths for the participants to follow and also encourage those who took part to keep going and thank them for their support.
When Terry Fox took the first steps on his “Marathon of Hope” to run across the country and raise funds for cancer research and support, he may have had no idea how important it would become. Some 35 years later, it takes place in different cities across the country and around the world. It has raised $700 million, with 84 cents per dollar going to cancer research.
Even though the Mississauga events are over, anyone who would still like to make a donation is invited to call 1-888-836-9786 or visit http://www.terryfox.org/.
