Mississauga recognition program wants to hear of local volunteers

Nominations are being sought to recognize those Mississauga residents who give of themselves to make a difference in their community.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the city’s 2016 Civic Awards of Recognition Program, which has been held since 1992. Both individual and groups that have volunteered in the local area are eligible.

These awards are presented only once each year, and a special ceremony is hosted by the city, with the presentations being made by the mayor. After this, there is a brief reception for the recipients. Stationery printing can be used to design and produce certificates that can be used for occasions such as this.

Nomination Forms are reviewed to determine who will be selected for recognition. They can be submitted either online or through the regular mail, and must be filled out as completely as possible. The information on them will be confirmed. Those who have had their suggested nominee selected for recognition will be informed over the phone about the status of their nomination.

The final date to submit a recommendation for an award is April 29. The ceremony itself is scheduled to take place at the Mississauga Civic Centre on May 31. Further information about the program, as well as nomination forms, is available on the Mississauga Civic Recognition webpage.
