Mississauga event to discuss invasive plants

Environmental stewardship may sound complicated, but a Mississauga event will show the public it can be as easy as heading to their garden.

An introduction to invasive plants is on the agenda, and it is on offer thanks to the Mississauga Library. As it will be a virtual experience, the attendees can sign in from home and wear comfy clothes, and the presentation will be led by Master Gardeners from the area.

The Seed Library: Online Invasive Plants in Gardens session will introduce invasive plant species. There will be a discussion of how to identify the different species by sight, why they can be a cause for concern and how to control them without having a negative impact on the environment. It will run for one hour, and the tips shared can be put to use right away before weeds take hold for another growing season.

Along with a discussion of invasive plants, the attendees will have an opportunity to discover the local seed library and why its work is important. A printer can be tasked with preparing promotional materials for a community event such as this one to spread the word.

This introduction to invasive plants and what to do about them is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 20th. Anyone who is interested is invited to sign up now.
