The various regions of Italy each have their own special way of preparing food, and Sicilian fare will be the focus of an upcoming culinary class.
Mississauga foodies are invited to be part of a culinary tour of Sicily, and while they discover what makes the cuisine special, they will get some hands-on practice with the skills they will learn. The function is an initiative of Culinaria Restaurant, and it is part of its Foodie Adventures program.
The activity will see learners prepare a variety of Sicilian-inspired dishes, and these will be made from scratch. New food preparation techniques will be taught, and while the attendees work, the facilitator will share cookery tips and information about the influences that make Sicilian cuisine different from other Italian food. The menu includes bruschetta, spaghetti and meatballs, as well as tiramisu, and tickets for the afternoon are $110 each.
The organizers of the class have noted that everyone who registers should bring along some containers so they can take any leftovers home with them. Providing the participants in a cookery class like this with cards printed with the recipes they will learn can make it easier for them to prepare them in the comfort of their own kitchen, and these may be ordered form local Stationery printers.
This instalment in the Foodie Adventures series will bring a taste of Italy to Mississauga on September 15th. It will be hosted at 5732 Kennedy Road.
