Gutenbergs buying guides coming to publishers this spring

Gutenberg's Buying Guides is an effort to offer the printing industry a publication guide where printing companies can buy, sell and look for anything related to the industry, including repair shops, service centres and product depots. A Print company based in Mississauga, ON, North Island Publishing, which publishes Graphic Monthly for the Canadian graphic communications industry is behind its publication. There will be half -a-dozen U.S. editions of Gutenberg’s Buying Guides, looking to fill the disappearance of Blue Books, which ceased publication last April. Carl Sartori, the previous publisher of Blue Books, has joined forces with the Mississauga, ON print company to help oversee the Guide’s success.

Executive Alexander (Sandy) Donald, owner of North Island Publishing print company in Mississauga, ON tells Print CEO he envisions Gutenberg to be the "industry telephone book," however, unlike Blue Books, the guide won’t contain full white page listings of suppliers. Printers will get free Copies and be offered a range of advertising options, and also be listed online on the Gutenberg website once the site goes live. According to Print CEO, the goal of the Gutenberg Guide is to:
"...make everything easy for printers, implant managers, and graphic arts buyers to buy everything they need from the comfort of their own home."
The guide will also be useful for printing companies in need of quick repairs.

Gutenberg Buying Guides ambition is to put out its first 45,000 copies by Spring 2011 and have 220,000 users before the end of the year.
