Canopy Green has announced the winners of its prestigious 2012 Ancient Forest Friendly Awards in Toronto on December 6.
The not-for-profit organization is an environmental advocacy group, dedicated to helping the printing services industry reduce its ecological footprint. Many printing companies in Mississauga, Toronto, and the Greater Toronto area had entered its contest to reduce their carbon footprint and use paper efficiently.
Publishers and printers across Mississauga and the rest of Canada were honored in the awards ceremony, which gave away nine different awards to printers who entered in 2012, acknowledging printers over 250,000 tons, printers over 25,000 tons, printers over 2,500 tons and printers under 2,500 tons. Awards were given away at the Toronto Centre for Conservation.
Numerous categories were part of the awards ceremony, including gold, silver, bronze awards, Most Improved, and Conservation supporter accolades. An eclectic number of printing services industry members, including educational and book publishers, telecommunications, newspapers, and small businesses took home various awards for implementing environmental policies.
The 2012 Ancient Forest Gold Awards marks the second year of the conservation awards. The awards began last year to encourage printing industry members to develop eco-paper policies and to work with applicants who do not yet have conservation policies in place at the corporate level. The organization also works to independently assess the existing ecological policies of Print companies and evaluate their implementation.
Canopy Green describes itself as a non-profit working with printers to protect the integrity of the world's forests and ecological habitats, while combatting climate change through the creation of sustainable business practices.Get a Free Quote for Print
