Yearly art festival returns next month

The 12th annual Art on the Street event is taking place this July in Guelph. It is hosted by both the Downtown Guelph Business Association and the Guelph Arts Council.

This is a juried event that is expected to feature approximately 100 artists in what are referred to as ‘open air studios’. The artists will be selling all manner of unique items, including handmade jewelry, pottery, prints, photographs, and oil paintings. The artists will also be competing for such awards as ‘Best of Show’, ‘Best Booth’, and ‘People's Choice’. There will also be strolling musicians.

The show will give members of the public an opportunity to pick up items for their homes, and to discover new artists in their community. It will also allow the artists to get their work out to the public.

Organizers of the festival are still looking for street minstrels to help entertain the large crowds who will no doubt make their way to downtown Guelph. They have also likely contacted local printing companies to provide them with products such as Flyers to spread word around the community.

Art on the Street will be held on Quebec Street on July 12th, from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Admission is free. To get more information about this event, or to apply to get involved, contact David at 519-836-3280.
