The seminar is hosted by folk singer and educator Katherine Wheatley and singer-songwriter and young adult author Jane Lewis. Guest instructors for this spring’s edition are veteran folk musician Coco Love Alcorn and multi-instrumentalist Liv Cazzola. The weekend will consist of a series of workshops, including topics like How to Sing Harmony, Freeing the Voice, and Guitar Techniques. The event also aims to build community between the attendees, with organizers claiming:
“Whether you’ve always wanted to sing but haven’t given yourself the chance, or you’ve been writing songs and singing for years and want to hone your skills, Women’s Music Weekend is for you.”
Women’s Music Weekend is typically hosted biannually in the Guelph area, with different guest instructors for each edition. The weekend ends in a concert where participants have a chance to showcase what they have learned over the two days. Seminars and retreats like this often act as a great way to make connections and networks, with contact information and Business Cards changing hands. Financial bursaries are available for people who need funds to attend the Weekend.
The Spring 2024 Women’s Music Weekend will take place at Loyola House Retreat in Guelph from May 3 to 5.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
