Not-for-profit groups and community service organizations in Guelph and the surrounding area are invited to take part in a workshop that will give them the tools they need to successfully perform volunteer screening.
The session, which will be facilitated by Christine Oldfield with the assistance of Emily Vincent, will teach the participants how to screen volunteer applicants so that they can find the right person for the right position, and also minimize risk to both the organization and the volunteer. The method taught will be Volunteer Canada’s Ten Safe Steps of Screening.
Only 20 spaces are available, and those who wish to take part are asked to bring along the tools they currently use to screen those who express an interest in helping them function on a volunteer basis.
There is no charge to take part for current members Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington, while members of the Learning Alliance are asked to pay $45, and those who don’t have a membership with either will be charged $50.
The training session will take place on from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm on September 20 at 275 Eramosa Road in Guelph.
