A pair of local students have created a new initiative to help local Guelph businesses reach customers during this period of social distancing.
The initiative is known as the Guelph Box and is designed to replicate the results of a day’s shopping in downtown Guelph, including products from a variety of local and independent businesses. The list of vendors is changing regularly, with new additions and ongoing shutdowns, but participants have included With the Grain Bakery, Red Brick Café, Sunny Island Organic Farm and TOMME Cheese Shop.
All products are packaged safely with the use of masks and gloves and delivered through contactless methods. Every box’s contents are a unique surprise, and in addition to food Boxes have included items like handmade soap and Books by local authors.
The Guelph Box is the brainchild of Josh Gray, 19, and Genevieve Sutherns, 17, who were inspired by the way the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent preventative measures affected local businesses. The product is reminiscent of other food boxes which have been a popular way to sample fresh food or be surprised by unexpected products. These boxes are often advertised through flyer printing services.
The Guelph Box is currently available for delivery. The businesses involved may shift during the coming weeks due to ongoing shutdowns and restrictions. A vegetarian selection is available.Get a Free Quote for Books Get a Free Quote for Boxes
