If everything goes according to plan, residents of the city of Guelph may soon have a new place to shop for building and home improvement materials and supplies.
DIY and appliance chain Lowes may be looking at opening a new location next to the existing Costco on Elmira Road South. In a publicly available planning map on the city’s website, there is a space already designated.
At an upcoming public meeting of the city council, there will be a discussion of the plan. According to the mayor, this is just the initial step in the process of the business receiving approval to build, but he feels it is a good fit for the area.
At least two councillors agree, though they have some concerns about the increase in traffic volume that such a development could bring to the area surrounding the store, and whether or not there will need to be adjustments made to the current public transit system to help alleviate the issue.
When a new business such as this opens in a community, it often leads to spinoff benefits to other area service providers. An example of this would be a Print company, which can produce items such as Business Cards and signage for the firm’s new location.
Lowes declined to comment on whether or not it was planning on opening a store in the city.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards Get a Free Quote for Print
