Hillside Music Festival will make its return to Guelph’s great outdoors this summer, featuring a mixture of established and up-and-coming artists.
The festival, which has been in existence for over 35 years, is a not-for-profit production that aims to present a diverse line-up of musicians, and it invites visitors to camp out over a day or a weekend and enjoy musical acts.
Headlining the weekend is Dan Mangan, a Juno-winning indie-folk musician known for his quirky lyricism, and the award-winning Ontario singer-songwriter Alfie Jurvanen, performing under the name Bahamas. The weekend will feature dozen of other artists across multiple stages, including Laurel Tubman and Friends; Nicolette & the Nobodies; and Shane Koyczan and The Short Story Long.
In addition to five stages full of music, there will be an artisan market featuring local vendors such as Bee Kind Organics, Koka-Bora Creations and Sylph Eco Wear, with many businesses offering locally sourced, organic products. Festivals and fairs like this can provide a great inventory for vendors to interact directly with new customers, with vendors often providing Promotional Products or rare goods.
The campground will also include a drum and dance circle, a food zone featuring local vendors, an area celebrating Indigenous culture and workshops on various subjects.
The 2022 edition of the Hillside Music Festival will take place on Guelph Lake Island between July 22 and 24.
