A vote by Guelph City Council revealed that there is unanimous support amongst its members for a revamp of the Guelph Community Energy Initiative (CEI).
Those on the council voted to proceed with a review and assessment of the current initiative that is focused on energy and water savings in the city. The plan covers a span of 25 years, and includes measures to reduce the production of greenhouse gasses and also lower energy use. It was first developed 10 years ago as part of Guelph’s Community Energy Plan.
In a press release, Rob Kerr, who is the Community Energy Manager for the city, noted that a lot has been learned since then about the importance of sustainable energy and the role it will play in the future growth and prosperity of the community.
The updated plan will include the lessons learned and best practices that have been developed over the 10 years that the Energy Plan has been in use. A printer that provides binding services will be able to provide bound Copies of the finished report for distribution to the public and other stakeholders throughout the community.
The completed document is expected to be finished by sometime in 2017 and the final cost will be about $150,000. Half of the funding for the project will come from the provincial and federal governments. Get a Free Quote for Copies
