The City of Guelph will be holding its annual Clean and Green spring clean-up program this April, aiming to clean up natural areas ahead of the warm months.
The program typically draws over 1,800 volunteers, including community organizations, families, businesses and school classes participating together. Groups and individuals can register to clean up a park, roadway or trail of their choice. Participants will receive a free clean-up kit as well as complementary Riverside Amusement tickets, and can sign up to clean multiple sites. Cleaners are also encouraged to take photos of their work and share it on social media.
Participants are advised to wear protective clothing such as gloves and closed-toed shoes, and be alert near roads and railways. Gathered garbage and waste can be reported to the city through an online map tool.
Last year’s clean-up involved 131 locations, including a number of parks and other scenic locations, and this year the event is looking to surpass that total. Municipal governments often use methods like poster printing and social media to help find volunteers for programs like this and help to improve the community.
The 2025 Guelph Clean and Green Program will take place throughout the month of April, with equipment pick-up taking place on April 1 and 2. The deadline for registering to claim a location is March 24.
