Guelph Studio Tour gears up for October

The 26th annual Guelph Studio Tour is happening the weekend of October 14-16. The tour gives the general public access to the studios and exhibition spaces of 38 local artists. The type of art created by these artists is diverse and wide-ranging; there are printmakers, pottery makers, painters, jewellery makers, textile artists, a blacksmith, an artist who creates pieces out of gourds, and an artist who works with welded steel.

This annual event brings many visitors to Guelph and allows residents to experience the type of art that local artists are producing in their city; it allows those not involved in the arts to appreciate the beauty that surrounds them. The studio tour is free and is open from 7-9 pm on Friday, 10 am-6 pm on Saturday and 11 am -5 pm on Sunday. Brochure printers in the area have helped the tour operators create a brochure which features maps and information on each artist. The artist information includes contact information and their website address. There is also a contest entry to win a $150 gift certificate for the purchase of any participating artist’s work. This brochure can be picked up in various locations throughout the city.

Participating local artists include printmaker Margaret Peter, acrylic painter Sarah Palmer, welded steel artist Steve Lewis and oil painter Larry Lawrence. The Guelph Studio Tour sounds like a great way to spend a weekend; to gain some appreciation for art and to possibly find some amazing works of art for your home.
