On March 5, seven Guelph University students will tackle their own Seven Day Challenge. The idea arose from a similar challenge which was held last year, by a group of students who attended the University of Waterloo. Voortmen soft cookies and No-Name Cola Packaging is what prompted the theme of the challenge the seven are about to embark on.
The students will have seven days to invent seven apps for computers. The apps are to be both practical and easy to apply.
Wyatt Carss, one of the students taking part in the challenge said, “One of the ones we’re looking at is an app that lets housemates keep track of bills. If one person paid the hydro and another the cable bill, you can keep track of who owes what through the app. It would also send alerts to the other people that money was due.”
Students Wyatt Carss, Quincy Jermyn, Martin Lindsay, Luke Rewega together with Paul Vilchez ( a student of engineering) will make up part of the team.
Starting on March 5, the group will attempt the challenge at Three Four Nine Co-Working on Woolwich Street. They will spend twelve hours per day on the task.
No doubt, the students participating in this challenge will be asked for their Business Cards time and time again. Business card printing can be done right in their hometown of Guelph. They will need to look no further than their own community to have their printing needs met.
