An upcoming workshop at the University of Guelph will give property owners who may be considering the addition of a water feature to their landscape some knowledge that they can put to use in doing so.
Building Ponds and Waterfalls is a daylong seminar that will teach those who take part everything they need to know to install these features. They will receive instruction in how to assess the current landscape design and what factors need to be take into consideration when choosing the shape and style of pond that will best fit their property.
After this, the workshop will cover the actual constriction of the structure, as well as selecting and installing the right kind of pump and which filtration system will work best for them. Finally, participants will be given tips on adding living things to their new water feature, such as plants and fish, and ongoing maintenance issues will also be discussed.
The guest instructor for the day will be Robert Pavlis. There is a maximum of 18 seats available, and early bird registration will take place up until March 31. Booklet printing can be used to prepare handouts for courses such as this.
The course is scheduled for April 9 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. The fee for those who choose to register early is $75, while for those who register after March 31, it will be $85.
