The store is closing its Victoria Road building, citing an inability to reach an agreement on a new lease, and it is holding a contest to reveal where it will be moving to. Customers can guess the new location based on clues provided and fill out a ballot in-store with their guess. The contest has begun with flyer printing, with the Flyers containing clues concerning the new store. Prominently featuring Len’s Mill mascot Freddy the flamingo, the flyer says:
“Two Freds are better than one, flamingos will come flying out of the woodwork to land on this lawn!”
Those who submit correct guesses as to the new location could win prizes. The new storefront will be smaller than the Victoria Road location, which has been in operation for the past 20 years, but owner Peter Menary has said that it will maintain a similar level of stock.
Len’s Mill carries fabric, yarn and other household items. The chain was started in Port Dover by Menary’s grandfather Len, and it currently has locations across Southern Ontario. Len’s Mill has also been holding a series of clearance sales to better prepare for the move.
The Guelph Len’s Mill Store is expected to reveal its new location and fully move there sometime this August.
