A massive book sale that is held each autumn in Guelph has found a new place to call home.
The Friends of the Guelph Public Library holds a weekend long sale each October, and this year, it will take place in a warehouse located at 69 Huron Street. Suan Frason, John Wood, and Coldpoint Holding Ltd, donated the space for the fundraiser.
Virginia Gillham, who chairs both the sale and the group that hosts it, told CBC news that the event has become so successful that it outgrew its former location. She went on to say that the new one will have plenty of room, and since it is being donated, the monies raised can all be used to help support the library.
This fundraiser, which has become an annual event, is one of the group’s major sources of funding. So far, it has allowed it to be able to contribute over $430,000 towards the planned construction of a new main library building.
