Dozens of local organizations in Guelph recently received a huge financial shot in the arm with the award of grants from the Guelph Community Foundation.
They were awarded at the River Run Centre on October 2nd, with a total of
$115,050 handed out to 28 Guelph area bodies.
The recipients include a wide variety of groups, some of which were the Guelph Arts Council, which received $10,000, The Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition, which received $7,500, and the Guelph Youth Music Centre, which received $3,000, among many others ranging from educational organizations, to social services groups, to those promoting the arts.
The various recipients of the foundation’s grants may have hired a printing company for the purposes of poster printing. These could be used by charities to advertise the services they provide or to get the word out about fundraising events.
The Guelph Community Foundation itself is a charity created in 2000 to help philanthropists and the general public target their charitable giving to organizations they want, and to maximize the impact of what they give. In addition to giving directly to registered charities the foundation provides scholarships to students and summer camp grants to children who would otherwise be unable to attend.
Since it began the Guelph Community Foundation has awarded over $2.7 million to about 800 charities and has received over $12 million in various contributions.
