This October, Guelph will see teams of four running around the city in a special challenge meant to raise money for charity.
The Royal City Big Chase is modeled after the popular reality series The Amazing Race, and it aims to present a small-scale version of the race for people around Guelph. The competition will involve up to 40 quartets moving around the city and tackling challenges such as scavenger hunts at well-known Guelph shops, parks and other locations. The event is open to people of all ages, but each team must have access to a vehicle. The Big Chase hopes to appeal to groups of friends and families, as well as co-workers interested in corporate team-building.
The first three teams to cross the finish line will receive prizes, as well as bragging rights for knowing the Royal City the best. Funds raised from the events will go towards Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph, which provides mentoring to children and youths in need. From runs to dance marathons, charitable events such as this often use inventive means to raise money, including eye-catching banner printing and unique event types. This will be the second annual Big Chase after a successful pilot event.
The 2022 Royal City Big Chase will take place on the morning and afternoon of October 15 all around the city of Guelph.
