Annual event honors outstanding women in Guelph

The 19th annual Women of Distinction fundraising gala is taking place this May in Guelph. This is a fundraising event for the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph's Teenage Parent Program (TAPPs).

The event will consist of a reception, an awards ceremony and dessert. In 2013, 33 women were honored at the event. There are several categories in which women are recognized, including arts and culture, business and entrepreneur, and education and training. The Turning Point Award and the Young Women of Distinction Awards are also handed out during the evening.

The gala will be a good networking opportunity for business leaders in Guelph, both male and female. No doubt many of those attending will have already placed a new business card printing order. There will be many chances during the evening to exchange cards and to discuss business. Those in attendance will want to meet the women who are being honored, to get their ideas about good business practices and to develop working relationships with them if possible.

A portion of the proceeds generated will go to the Teenage Parent Program, which offers referrals, education, and support for both males and females.

The Women of Distinction Fundraising Gala will be held at the River Run Centre on May 1st from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. Tickets are $65 each or $55 when purchasing 10 tickets or more. For more information, call 519-362-0995.
