From tiny maidenhair orchids to larger species like common Phalaenopsis cultivars often offered for sale at the local grocery store, orchids fascinate many, and a class set for St. John’s Memorial University Botanical Garden will introduce their care and culture.
The Orchids 101 workshop will help those who are new to these plants to hit the ground running, and a registration fee of $40.00 is being charged. The learners will also be asked to pay a $6.00 materials fee, and it will begin at 6:30 pm.
The session will be facilitated by Todd Obland, who is a Horticulturalist with the Garden. He will provide basic level care tips, and advice for growing and repotting them will also be shared. Everyone can ask any questions they have, and those with an orchid at home are welcome to bring it along for some expert level advice and repotting assistance.
Working with plants can be very rewarding, and a workshop provides those who would like to learn from experts with a chance to do so. Copies of handouts and other items for a class can be prepared by Stationery printers.
