Fostering a culture of care can help to prevent employee injuries, and one of the first steps of the process can be standing up a health and safety committee. A Winnipeg workshop will explore the importance of this in a workplace next month.
SAFE Work Manitoba is currently offering seats in its SAFE Committee Basics training day, and it is recommended for anyone who plans on participating in its more advanced courses.
The topics that will be covered in this interactive session will begin with the responsibility of individuals to create a workplace where safety is a priority. Next, the class will review the function and duties of a health and safety committee, and this will be followed by an overview of how to conduct meetings, recognize hazards and conduct safety inspections. The right of employees to refuse unsafe work is also on the agenda, and this is all being offered at no cost to the learners.
A function like this will often share a large amount of information in a relatively small amount of time. Providing each student with a binder or other textbook that expands on the materials covered can help to make sure that each registrant gets the most they can from participating in a learning opportunity like this. Items like these can be obtained from a printing services provider.
June 27 has been set as the date for this workshop, and it will begin at 8:30 am sharp at 16-363 Broadway in Winnipeg.
