North Vancouver to get free sports day
For the third year in a row, North Vancouver will welcome the close of summer with a free sports days aimed at families.
The Get Out And Play event aims to promote family cohesiveness and team-building skills through a non-competitive athletic environment. The outdoor event will feature different activity and sport ‘stations’, providing something for everyone, regardless of age or skill level. Among the activities will be soccer, bocce, ultimate frisbee, and obstacle courses.
Sports drinks will be on hand to help participants refuel on what could be a hot August day, and prizes will be awarded. Children are encouraged to socialize and play with their peers, but parents are also welcomed to join in the action.
Outdoor events like these are popular activities for both children and adults. With fitness an ever-growing concern, casual sporting events provide an opportunity to stay active. In addition to physical skills and co-ordination, children can learn social skills as well as gain mental attributes like self-confidence. Sporting events, ranging from kids’ get-togethers to adult rec leagues, are often advertised with tools like banner printing.
Get Out and Play will take place at Confederation Turf Field on the morning of August 25. The event will be free to attend, although there will be a donation jar for those who want to help fund future editions.
