North Vancouver attends paper marbling workshop

Paper marbling was a craft practiced in Persia, and a North Vancouver workshop will bring these techniques into the modern age.

The participants in “The Art of Abri Paper Marbling” will be marking the start of the Persian new year by crafting marbled paper they can take home at the end of the class. Parsa Khatami, a medical student at UBC, will be the facilitator, and Sophie Sajadi will also be contributing to the activity.

The attendees will use the materials supplied to craft their custom marbled paper, and natural dyes and bamboo Pens crafted by Sophie will be used. While they work on their projects, the ticket holders will be treated to more information about the history of marbled paper and the cultural significance of the Pens and dyes. The fee to take part is $35.00 each, and it's been scheduled for an afternoon in mid-March.

A hands-on class can be a fun way for the public to learn something new and also meet others who share their interest. Stationery printers can prepare registration Forms as well as marketing Flyers and other materials.

This opportunity to learn the history of Persian paper marbling and try one's hand and prepare some to take home will be offered on March 14th. The location for the session will be The Music Box at 1564 Argyle Avenue in West Vancouver.
