North Vancouver sits in an area that may be impacted by earthquakes, and thanks to an upcoming information session, more of its residents will be prepared for this type of emergency.
The attendees will be taught the ins and outs of handling an earthquake, and it will be on offer in person in the third floor program room at the library. It will be facilitated by a representative of North Shore Emergency Management.
The facilitator will share tips for being prepared, and these may also be helpful in different types of environmental emergencies. Everyone will find out how to make a customized emergency plan, what supplies they should have on hand and also ways one can support others and help rebuild their community. It is being offered as part of the larger BC Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. There is no registration required, and it will run for one hour and fifteen minutes.
Knowing what to do in an emergency can be part of being a “good citizen”, and a class or other learning session provides a time to do so. Locally based ones may be specific to a particular community, and a brochure printing company can supply everything from emergency plan preparation tools to supply check lists.
Everyone who feels they can benefit from becoming more savvy when it comes to earthquake preparedness may register for this session set for October 15th.It will start at 7:30 pm.
