The Shipyards Festival will contain two stages that will host various bands over the course of 10 hours. The festival will also host a shopping area full of local businesses and artisans, plus a play area for children. An exact line-up has yet to be announced.
The first edition of the event, held in 2019, drew more than 15,000 people to see acts like The Boom Booms, Mike Edel and the North Shore Celtic Ensemble. Speaking to North Shore News, Business Improvement Area (BIA) Director Greg Holmes said:
“We’re going to give [the community] the opportunity to see something special that’s been missing for far too long.”
The music stages will contain children’s entertainers earlier in the day, before transitioning to bands and artists aimed at teens and adults. The festival is supported by the city of North Vancouver, which voted to contribute $20,000 in funding. In addition to the musical acts, events like this can be crucial for small businesses, which can use them as an opportunity to distribute Business Cards and make connections with customers who they might not reach in their everyday routines.
The Shipyards Festival is scheduled for September 25. It will take place in the Shipyards District.
