This year will mark the 10th annual HUB Cycling Bike Awards, a virtual event designed to celebrate those who make it easier to traverse North Vancouver and the Metro Vancouver Area as a whole by bicycle.
The awards focus on groups and individuals who work to improve cycling infrastructure, availability and culture. Some awards are dedicated to the region’s annual Go by Bike Week, Bike to School Week and Bike to Shop events. There are Volunteer Appreciation Awards, Infrastructure Improvement Awards and the Arno Schortinghuis Cycling Champion of the Year Award. Participants will also be able to vote on People’s Choice Awards for individuals, organizations and shops that benefit cycling and cyclists in the Metro Vancouver area.
The goal of the virtual awards is to help connect cycling enthusiasts throughout the region and celebrate their achievements, as well as supporting the HUB Cycling organization. Presentations throughout the evening will showcase personal success stories about the benefits of cycling. There will also be door prizes awarded to those attending the virtual event. Local awards such as this are popular ways to celebrate volunteer and community efforts in a variety of efforts, often using items such as plaques or banner printing to commemorate the winners.
The 2023 HUB Cycling Bike Awards will take place over Zoom on the evening of February 2023.
