North Vancouver students looking for work in the summer or after graduation may be interested in the job fair being hosted this March by Capilano University.
The fair, entitled ‘Jobs for U’ is open to students in all programs, and is designed to connect young job-seekers with employers who need to fill positions. Employers who have already been announced include ALS Canada, Freedom 55 Financial, CEFA Early Learning North Vancouver, and YMCA of Greater Vancouver.
The fair, which is held every year, will take place on March 28 at the Birch Building Cafeteria. Student visitors would be well-served to dress professionally and to stop by the library or Print shops for a round of resume and business card printing. Capilano advertises the fair as an opportunity for students to make in-person connections to potential employers:
“Instead of scouring the internet and job boards, the Jobs for U Hiring Fair conveniently has available to you companies with human representatives from all different industries you can actually talk to.”
The fair is put together by Capilano’s Career Development Centre, a university department dedicated to helping students get the career they want after graduation.
In addition to the fair, the centre hosts workshops and events throughout the year. Some of these workshops, like ‘Why Your Resume Isn’t Getting You Interviews’ or ‘Network at the Fairs Like a Pro’, could be directly relevant to the March fair.
