A touring play that brings a very British approach to the holiday season will visit North Vancouver this December.
Called O Christmas Tea, the is written and performed by the comedic duo of Jamesy & Jamesy. O Christmas Tea has been a major success for the duo and has toured over the world, finding appreciation among lovers of the distinctive British style of comedy, with advertisements referencing Monty Python and Mr. Bean as inspirations.
The two-man play is a three-time Impressario Award winner and was created by Jamesy & Jamesy in collaboration with David MacMurray Smith, with musical arrangement and sound design by Adrian Shepherd-Gawinski and choreography by Lucy Falkner, Chris J. Gonzales and Jake Kerins.
The plot of the play sees a global flood of tea disrupting a Christmas party, resulting in a cavalcade of physical comedy and whimsy. This year’s tour of O Christmas Tea concentrates on the Pacific Northwest, with stops all across British Columbia, Oregon and Washington.
The North Vancouver event will be the final stop of the tour. Holiday-themed theatre performances are a popular attraction around this time of year, with both familiar and new narratives coming to life, and holiday imagery appearing on everything from costumes to brochure printing.
O Christmas Tea will be performed in North Vancouver at the Centennial Theatre on December 22, 2021.
