Brewing company sets up in North Vancouver

North Point Brewing, an upstart brewery in North Vancouver’s Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood, has recently opened its taproom to the public.

Lower Lonsdale is home to a burgeoning brewery district and North Point hopes to be the latest success story. Its open taproom features a rustic, cabin-inspired décor and offers the kind of punnily-named ales that craft beer fans have become accustomed to.

Its launch menu includes Strawberry Blonde Ale, Life of Riley Hazy IPA, Can You Be More Pacific IPA and the papaya-flavoured Smashin’ Baby, Yeah. The central location allows for participation in pub crawls and other multi-business events.

The company was founded by long-time friends and North Shore locals Liam Jeffries, Ean Annable and Matt Legate, with Paul Kovamees serving as head brewer. Their intention is to capture the feeling of summer vacations and “cabin adventures”.

Craft beer and microbreweries have become increasingly popular in recent years among young drinkers. Such breweries often use funny names, creative graphic design and memorable Promotional Products to set themselves apart from the crowd. The combination brewery/taproom facility, like North Point’s new location, has also become a staple of drinking culture.

North Point Brewing had its official opening on December 10, after a week-long ‘soft launch’ and is currently open six days a week (excepting Mondays) at 266 1st Street East.
