Parents care dream becomes a reality in Abbotsford

After many years of hard work and dedication, Abbottsford couple Doug and Andrea Froese have seen their dream come to life after marking the opening of their new care facility.

In 2007, they started working with the Supportive Care Society to build Matthew’s House, a residential respite care center for families with disabled children who require complex care.

The new facility is named in honor of the couple’s son. Born with his umbilical cord around his neck, Matthew had several different health issues which meant he required a lot of care. This led to them recognizing just how important it can be for families in a situation like their own to have help available when they need it.

The goal of the project it to provide care in a homely setting that gives families peace of mind that their child is being well looked after. There is space for five children at a time, ranging in age from 4-18 years old.

Care is provided by residential support workers who will be supervised by a registered nurse. There is even a suite where the family can stay together while their child adjusts to their new surroundings. Children can stay at the home for anywhere between two days and two weeks.

Print companies often lend their skills to make morale-boosting Posters and Banners when new facilities like this open. This can help the home’s guests feel as comfortable as possible in their home away from home.
