Amateur astronomers, photographers and anyone else who is interested in learning how to photograph the night-time sky is invited to be part of a learning experience planned for Abbotsford.
The registrants for the Photographing the Stars learning session will be getting instruction and hands-on practice in capturing the stars and other celestial objects after the sun goes down. This requires special techniques, and these, along with other skills, will be shared during the session.
The outing will take place in the community’s Dark Sky Park to avoid light pollution, and it will run for three hours. The participants will be taught which camera settings to use, as well as focusing, using a phone app to help locate objects, how to light paint and also which nights are best for viewing. An optional editing session is also in the works for anyone who would like to gain some additional experience with this.
The registration fee for the tour is $120. Additional learning materials for an activity may be obtained by contacting a local brochure printing company.
The date for this introduction to celestial photography will depend upon factors such as the weather, and so four possible dates have been set in August. The definitive date will be determined the day before the event, and more information about the workshop and what to bring is available on the Omnilargess website.
