Tories have image problem in Red Deer and Alberta, Premier says

The Progressive Conservative Party seems to be suffering with an image problem, casting the party’s credibility in doubt in the minds of voters, at least according to Alberta Premier, Alison Redford. She made the comment on a Red Deer radio show.

The party may look to enhance its image via media campaign and printed media, such as flyer printing, especially as a provincial election is expected to be called in the next couple of weeks.

The Progressive Conservatives have been under enormous flack, both provincially and nationally, and have had to respond to allegations of influence and peddling as well as scandals involving committee pay. Redford is concerned about the negative press and its potential impact on voters in the Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer areas.

Redford took a bold step in reminding voters on a radio show that they hold power to hold legislative members accountable to retrieve monies wasted on committees that never meet. The Tories struggle with an image of entitlement, according to Redford, and will be working hard to regain some of the lost ground to the opposition Wildrose Party, which has won over some staunch Tory supporters.

Advertising and printed campaigns are powerful ways to communicate platforms, campaign facts and leader information, as well to reshape a party image to local voters. With Redford’s commitment to reshaping the Tory image in voter minds, it is extremely likely that local printers will play a significant role in the Progressive Conservative's upcoming provincial electoral campaign.
