Street festival returns to downtown Red Deer
Centre Fest is returning to downtown Red Deer this month for three days. Last year, it received the Reader’s Choice Award for Best Indoor/Outdoor Festival.
The event is a street performers’ festival that features entertainers from around the world. Some of the nations represented this year are Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel. Performers will include jugglers, contortionists, musicians, and acrobats. Included in this year’s festival are the Zap Circus, The Puppet Guy, Jugglemania and Cirque No Problem.
The event will be divided up into different worlds. Circus World will feature activities for children including arts and crafts, face painting and circus skill training, while Music World will feature local musicians, DJs and an appearance from 100.7 Cruz FM.
There will also be market vendors of all types selling arts and crafts, merchandise and food and drink. Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help with the festival.
This is a popular event in Red Deer that attracts approximately 28,000 visitors each year. It is likely that organizers will invest in services such as poster printing to help spread the word.
Centre Fest is taking place in Downtown Red Deer from July 29 to 31. Admission is free but guests are encouraged to tip the entertainers. To find out more about this festival, or to become a volunteer, call 403-872-3361.
