Red Deer United Way fundraiser faises an amazing $1,882,000

The United Way fund raising campaign in Red Deer raised $1,882,000 in just four short months. This announcement was made on Thursday January 27 at the Colicutt Centre by Lars Rogers. Rogers was campaign chairman of the 2010 United Way drive.

Though they did not reach their original target of two million dollars, they were impressed with achieving the amount they did raise. In fact, they surpassed their 2009 drive total by approximately $50,000.

Rogers said:

“We’re really happy with what we accomplished. Certainly would have loved to attain more.”

Thirty-two Central Alberta agencies will benefit from the money raised from this effort. Some of the groups receiving support include those that help people suffering from brain trauma, abuse or violence. Some of the organizations to receive funding help people needing affordable housing and those struggling with mental health issues, as well as other very deserving charities.

During this drive, 354 new donors were involved. Some of the donors are companies, while others are individual supporters.

The photo accompanying the story in the Red Deer Advocate shows two employees of the Red Deer United Way holding up placards concerning the fund raising achievements. Local printing companies were likely utilized to make the posters. Printing companies located in Red Deer would have been able to provide signs and banners used in the fund raising announcement ceremony. Organizations such as the United Way, as well as other businesses and establishments in the community are fortunate to be able to have all of their printing requirements met locally.
