What's Happening in Red Deer, AB…

Red Deer on the hunt for volunteers

The Red Deer community in Alberta is looking to better assess the homeless situation within its borders and is looking for local Red Deer residents who can assist in the process. With the support of local volunteers, surveys, the community, and hopefully local print companies in disseminating the local survey and soliciting volunteers, Red Deer can work towards its goal of eliminating homelessness.

A portrait of homelessness in Red Deer can help the city take measures to create sufficient, affordable housing and provide services and funding for programs policy-makers’ need to enact in the community.
An important way of gathering information about the homeless situation in Red Deer could be through the assistance of printing companies. The City of Red Deer, combined with the Red Deer and District Community Foundation, will be conducting surveys for the Red Deer ‘Point in Time’(PIT) Homeless Count 2012. The survey will be made available both in print and on the Internet.

The homeless count will be conducted every two years with new and updated data in order to best capture the sufficient and affordable housing needs of the Red Deer Community.

In addition to seeing the services of local printers to help support the survey initiative, the Red Deer community is also looking for local resident volunteers to assist with gathering information and performing a general survey count on October 16. Selected Red Deer volunteers will be contacted by OrgCode Consulting Inc. for training on the evening of the count.
