Red Deer honors top businesses

The Red Deer Chamber of Commerce is presenting the Business of the Year Awards this October. It is part of the chamber's recognition of Small Business Week, which takes place during the third week of October each year in Canada.

Businesses were nominated in three categories based on the number of people they employ on a full-time basis: 1-15, 16-49, and 50 and over. It is open to any businessperson in the Red Deer area, whether they are Chamber members or not. The qualifications to win include the business' impact on the community, top quality standards, and having encouraged employees to volunteer with local charities. A panel of judges has narrowed it down to three finalists in each category, and the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Guests will be treated to a cocktail reception, where they will enjoy appetizers, wine, access to a cash bar, and live entertainment. This will be held in the foyer of the RDC Arts Centre, while the awards will be held in the theater.

Sponsorships are available from $1,500 to $3,500, and sponsors will be recognized during the event and in the program.

Many of the Red Deer business leaders planning to attend will no doubt be placing a new business card printing order.

The Business of the Year Awards are taking place on October 22nd from 6:00pm - 11:00pm. Tickets are $85. To find out more, call 403-347-4491.
