Red Deer dance off raises $300,000 for hospital group

Local notables and charitable givers came together for Red Deer’s annual Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off, and raised a considerable sum for the Friends of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

The event took place in April, and recently announced a fundraising total of over $300, 000. Richelle Belzerowski, executive director of the charitable group, was pleased with the result, saying:

“The Celebrity Dance Off raised much-needed funds for the comfort and care of patients and their families, but just as importantly, it raised awareness of the important work we do.”

Some of the local personalities involved included Red Deer dentist Isaac Day, city councilor Ken Johnston, radio host Vinnie Taylor, and the hospital’s own Vanessa Higgins-Nogareda. Each participant personally raised money for the charity, with all surpassing the assigned goal of $20,000. Charity drives like these often use tools like brochure printing and Promotional Products to attract donations and raise awareness, in addition to the value of high-profile community members like those involved in the event.

The Celebrity Dance Off has been a local institution for 38 years, and has raised over $7m in that time. The event generally donates to a different charitable group or cause each year. However, the event organizers have announced that they will be skipping 2020 to rest before returning in April 2021.
