Red Deer College launches new contest

An entrepreneurial contest never fails to infuse new business ideas into the local economy and Red Deer’s third annual RED contest is calling all brilliant entrepreneurs who are short on cash to enter the contest.

Red Deer College, in co-operation with Red Deer Economic Development, Alberts Innovations, and Community Futures Central Alberta, is especially seeking out young people who need startup capital to put their ideas into practice, creating several promotional opportunities for printing companies in the process.

Especially targeting young people with a background in technology, science, or business, the RED contest is looking for brilliant business or business-related ideas. To enter the contest, the entrant must be a current postsecondary student or have graduated within the past year. The winner will have the opportunity to create and develop a business plan and present it to a team of business leaders to implement ideas. Also given to the winner is office space and business mentoring for a full year, as well as a $20,000 grant to purchase business capital.

In addition to printed promotions related to the contest itself, The Red Deer contest could create some interesting advertising opportunities for local printing companies looking to lend printing services to up-and-coming startup businesses. Printed advertising is a very important resource in helping launch new business and promoting new products and services. Great ideas are often impaired from inadequate marketing or resources and guidance to develop them.

The deadline for postsecondary students and graduates to submit entries is October 12, 2012.
