Red Deer celebrates Canadas 150th birthday

There are a couple of events taking place this year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation.

The first one is presented by the Red Deer Cultural Heritage Society (RDCH). The Canada Day celebrations will include birthday cake and ethnic food concessions. There will be entertainment from Lost Morenos, Loren Steppler, Ruined Escape Plan, and Dave McCann and the Firehearts. A children’s area will feature bouncy castles and other activities. There will also be arts and crafts vendors and a fireworks display.

The next event is the 6th annual Canada Day Show and Shine put on by Riders and Cruisers Alberta. This is a fundraiser for homeless at-risk veterans and first responders. Motorcycles and military vintage vehicles will be on display.

The day will start off with a parade followed by opening ceremonies. There will also be a silent auction, musical entertainment and food concessions.

Both of these free events will likely be widely advertised in Red Deer. Organizers may have hired a marketing services company to provide printed advertising materials.

The RDCH celebration will be held at Bower Ponds on July 1, beginning at 11:00 PM. Call 403-346-0055 for more information.

The Canada Day Show and Shine will be held at the Old Post Office on July 1 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. To learn more about this event, call 403-346-0171.
