Outdoor show to return to Red Deer
This March will see the return of one of Central Alberta’s oldest attractions, as the Red Deer Sports and Outdoor Show returns for its 55th annual edition.
The event is hosted by the Red Deer Fish & Game Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Central Alberta’s wilderness. The show will feature a number of exhibitors from throughout the outdoors sector, aiming to appeal to customers interested in activities like hiking, wildlife photography, camping and fishing.
Attendees can browse everything from recreational vehicles (RVs) and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to fishing equipment and outdoor art. This will be the first Sports and Outdoor Show to be held in multiple years after the 2022 event was cancelled for public health reasons.
The show will also feature guest speakers, including Airdrie’s Wes David, host of Fishing in the Wild West TV. Attractions include a beer garden supported by local breweries and food vendors, and a game fishing simulator. Events such as this are common in the spring as a way to stock up for the summer ahead, often using tools such as poster printing and local media spots to attract local outdoor enthusiasts. The event will also be raising money to support the Fish & Game Association’s year-round work.
The 2023 Red Deer Sports and Outdoor Show will take place at Westerner Park between March 3 and 5.
