The Horse Expo, which boasts of being “the largest equine trade show in Western Canada”, is headed to Red Deer this fall.
The expo is aimed at those in the business of raising and training horses, but may also be of interest to local riders and enthusiasts. One of the central events will be a “trainers showdown”, where three of the top horse trainers in North America are tasked with training a fresh colt over the course of a weekend, giving spectators the chance to observe training in action. There will also be clinics with experts on topics like jumping, dressage and cutting. Several highly credentialed clinicians will be available to learn from, including former equestrian Olympians.
For industry professionals, one of the main attractions will be the convention floor, with dozens of exhibitors related to all aspects of the horse business, ranging from photography and equine dentistry to farm fencing. Exhibitors include the Horse Archery Society of Canada, Frayed Knot Western Consignment and Kane Veterinary Supplies.
Trade shows in any industry provide crucial networking opportunities, and the horse business is no exception, with Business Cards being as essential as saddles. Other events throughout the weekend will be aimed at families and recreational riders.
The 2022 Horse Expo will take place at Westerner Pavilion between April 15 and 17.
