Fair showcases local historic site
The Harvest Fair and Quilt Show is taking place at the Stephansson House Provincial Historic Site this month.
This is an event that should appeal to the entire family, since there will be plenty of carnival games and crafts for the children. There will also be face painting and a petting zoo, in addition to live entertainment throughout the day.
The main draw for the adults will likely be the vendor market. Local artisans will be selling their handmade items such as jewelry, clothing and paintings. Many of the artists will also be providing demonstrations of their artwork, and there will be plenty of quilts for sale.
The Stephansson House Provincial Historic Site is a recreation of the experience of Icelandic immigrants to Canada. The farmhouse has been restored to how it was in 1927. The site also provides educational programs to schoolchildren from kindergarten up to Grade 5.
To advertise this event in the Red Deer area, organizers may have invested in flyers that can be distributed quickly and inexpensively through the mail.
