Cycling event to raise funds for mental health

Berry Architecture is hosting the CMHA Wellness Day this February in Red Deer. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

The day will consist of bike clinics and a gala dinner. Former pro-cyclists Tyler Hamilton and Alex Stieda will be teaching four indoor spin bike clinics for 20 people at a time. Later that evening the gala dinner will feature a meet and greet with both Hamilton and Stieda and a silent auction. Prizes will be related to cycling and will have been donated by local individuals and companies who wish to support the cause.

Each place in the bike clinic costs $250; it also includes admission to the dinner. For those who only wish to attend the gala event it costs $50.

The Canadian Mental Health Association's Alberta division is based in Edmonton. The organization provides public education, funds research and provides a variety of services for the mentally ill.

This fundraising event should attract many Red Deer spin biking enthusiasts who will no doubt be happy to support such a worthwhile organization. Flyers have already been created and likely widely distributed; local printing companies are often called to provide such materials.

CMHA Wellness Day is taking place at the Collicutt Centre on February 1. Tickets are limited to 80. The gala dinner will be held at the Sheraton Hotel from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. To learn more about both events, visit the official event Facebook page.
