Curling fundraiser returns for another year

The 7th annual Freeze the House Charity Bonspiel is taking place in Red Deer next month over three days, and is a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The competition is open to both adult and junior teams of all levels of ability. The fees are $650 for an adult team and $200 for a junior one. Teams also can raise pledges from friends, co-workers and family members. To help get more pledges, Red Deer printing companies are often asked to provide the forms.

The event will start off with a Friday mixer where participants and their supporters can get to know each other in advance of the competition. The next night will see a gala take place, with the theme of ‘Space for Families’. Guests will enjoy a performance of dueling guitars from The Klamdaggers, a silent auction, and a raffle. Celebrity curlers such as Tammy Cunnington will also be on hand to meet guests.

On the day of the competition, which is the Sunday, all participants will receive a free breakfast. Sponsorships are also available for local companies that wish to help raise more funds.

The Freeze the House Charity Bonspiel will be held at Pidherney Curling Centre from January 26 to 28. To learn more about the event or the charity or to become a sponsor, contact Ronald McDonald House Charities at 402-340-2007.
