What's Happening in Red Deer, AB…

Curling event organized to help sick children

The 3rd annual Freeze the House Charity Bonspiel is taking place over three days this January, with all proceeds going to support the Ronald McDonald House of Central Alberta.

The event will consist of round robin play in four categories: seasoned, intermediate, beginner and junior. Each team will play one game a day.

Participants are expected to raise funds by collecting pledges from friends, family members and co-workers. In addition, they also receive welcome bags and will have the opportunity to meet curling celebrities and have photographs taken. There are also pledge rewards at different levels, as well as a silent auction.

Several special activities will be taking place during the Bonspiel. This includes a Friday Night Mixer and the Saturday Night Dinner Dance. These events are included for participants but extra passes are for sale to the public. The dance will be preceded by a cocktail reception and will feature the music of the Boom Chucka Boys. Those taking part can also enjoy curling lessons on the first day.

With charity sporting events like this, Red Deer printing companies often supply items such as banners to recognize sponsors, posters for advertising, and invitations to be sent out to certain people.

The Freeze the House Charity Bonspiel is being held at the Red Deer Curling Centre from January 3-6. The dinner and dance will take place at the Sheraton Red Deer Hotel on January 4. The cost of tickets for the general public is $100 each.
