Annual show highlights historic horse breed

The 14th annual Canadian National Andalusian Show is returning to Red Deer for four days next month. It is a presentation of the Pacific Association of the Andalusian and Lusitano Horse (PAALH).

The Andalusian and Lusitano horses originally come from Spain and Portugal. The show will highlight the breeds and give owners the opportunity to learn some new skills, as well as to have their horses compete to become Grand Champions. The various demonstrations will feature Halter and Flat classes for both purebred and part-bred horses. The horses will also be judges on the working equitation which includes dressage, ease of handling obstacles, and speed. In addition, there will be English and Western Dressage tests.

The public is invited to the Fiesta of the Royal Horse on August 12 beginning at 7:00 pm. This event will feature a silent auction, a stallion services auctions, horse demonstrations, and exhibitions. At the end of the evening, the Grand Champions will be chosen. Tickets are $10 each.
